On a Sunday morning which Huntingdon Valley (HV) had a double header they went to work early and often in beating Newtown 26-21. HV scored in every inning but left their gloves at home and needed a late rally to put Newtown away.
HV got a great performence on the offensive side of the ball from Matt Acker (1 for 1, 5 walks) Jordan Leiber (1 for 2, 4 walks) Harrison Roesser (2 for 4, 4 runs scored, 5 RBI's) Bryce Horn (2 for 4, 4 RBI's) Justin Azran (3 for 5, 3 RBI's) Brock Landes (2 for 5, 2 runs Scored, 2 RBI's) Albert Glasgow (2 for 4) Matt Ginsburg (2 for 4, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI's)
HV scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning lead by an RBI single from Roesser. In the bottom of the inning Newtown struck 4 times off of starter Horn ( 2 IP, 2 Earned Runs) with 2 of the runs being earned.
The 2nd innng HV scored 9 times to take a 12-4 lead. The big blow in the inning was a 2 run double off the bat of Landes. Newtown scored 5 times in the bottom of the inning after HV commited enough errors to fill a bingo card and pull Newton to within 3 runs.
The 3rd inning HV scored 2 more times to make it 14-9 when Roesser and Horn both singled in runs. The bottom of the 3rd inning HV sent Nick Brady (3 IP, 2 Earned Runs) to the hill. HV filled another bingo card worth of errors and Newtown scored 5 more all unearned to tie the score at 14.
The 4th inning HV responded with 3 runs to take a 17-14 lead when Ginsburg blasted a run scoring double followed by a Acker rbi single to complete the scoring. Newtown scored 1 time in the bottom of the inning to make the score 17-15.
The 5th inning seemed to calm the storm when both teams combinded for 1 run and that being an RBI single by Azran. Going into the 6th and final inning HV held a 18-15 lead.
The 6th inning was the best inning of the day for HV when they put up 8 runs to take a 26-15 lead. The innings big blows came from Roesser who had a 2 run single and Horn who cleared the bases with a 2 run double. Azran then followed with a rbi single which knocked in Horn. Ginsburg knocked in Azran with an rbi single that ended the scoring. Newtown scored 6 runs in the bottom of the inning when HV continued to play bingo with errors and fill the cards.
HV won the game 26-21 and will head to Levvitown Cont. for the 2nd game of the doubleheader.
