Huntingdon Valley's (HV) almost pulled off the upset of the season in losing to Warrington 7-2 in the first round of the Suburban playoffs. HV was as close as 2-2 in the bottom of the 4th inning with 2 outs before Warrington scored 2 runs to break the tie and go on to the 7-2 victory. HV playing as a 15th seed had the 2nd seeded Warrington on the ropes before they pulled away for the win.
HV received a great pitching performance from starter Bryce Horn (4 IP, 3 Hits, 3 K's, 2 ER) and great hitting from Connor Killion (2 for 3, run scored, Double, RBI) and Harrison Roesser (1 for 2, Walk).
In the top of the first inning HV sent 4 batters to the plate with Roesser getting a walk. In the bottom of the inning Warrington scored 2 runs to take a 2-0 lead.
The 2nd inning HV came fighting back when Killion lead off with a double and scored on a Justin Azran RBI ground out. The bottom of the inning Horn shut them down in order with the help of Brock Landes gunning down a base runner.
In the 3rd inning HV scored a run to tie the game at 2 when with 2 outs Jordan Leiber walked which was followed by a single off the bat of Roesser and a walk to Horn to load the bases. Killion then singled in the run to tie the score at 2. The bottom of the inning Horn went right back to work and faced 5 batters in going through the order.
The 4th inning was a fast one for HV when with 1 out Nick Brady walked and stole 2nd and 3rd base but was cut down at home when he was out attempting to score on a wild pitch. The bottom of the inning Warrington scored 2 runs with 2 outs and took the lead for good.
The 5th and 6th inning HV went down in order with no threat and Warrington added a few more runs to end the game and HV's season.
