Huntingdon Valley (HV) elected to play in the 2010 Rehoboth Beach Baseball "Brush Back Bash" Tournament. The tournament consisted of 8 baseball teams from around the east coast. Teams where from New York, Maryland, Delaware and Huntingdon Valley Pa.
HV first played a team from Maryland named GORC II. HV scored in the first 2 innings to take a 2-0 lead to only have the game tied in the bottom of the 2nd inning. HV blew the game wide open in the 3rd with 5 runs to take a 7-2 lead. HV went on to win the game 8-5. HV was lead at the plate by Bryce Horn (2 for 3), Ryan Hurd (2 for 2), Jordan Leiber (2 for 3) and Brock Landes (1 for 3, 2 RBI's). Other players getting a hit included Chase Nighlinger, Matt Acker, Harrison Roesser and Danny Avington. The pitching was great and done by Victor Tang and John Martindale. They both pitched 3 innings and held GORC in check.
The 2nd game of the day was against a very tough team from Washington Township which is in Maryland. Washington Township won there league this season with a 12-2 record. HV started slow and was behind 6-0 before they even got to bat. When all was said and done HV lost 10-2 and showed signs that playing 2 games in a morning before 11:00 is very hard to do. Chase Nightlinger pitched 4 plus innings and was the only reason why HV didnt get blown out of the game. HV received hits from Ryan Hurd, John Martindale, Brock Landes and Jake Schwemlein.
Sunday was a new day but yet another very tough opponet. HV drew Mahweh from New York. Mahwah beat Washington Township the day before and was also a league champion. HV played them tooth and nail for 6 innings to only come up short 6-3 and send HV home with a very respectful 1-2 record and a 5th place finish. HV received strong pitching from Victor Tang and John Martindale yet again. HV received 3 hits from Matt Acker and single hits from Ryan Hurd, Martindale, Harrison Roesser also got 2 walks from Bryce Horn and Victor Tang.
Another great experience for the Predators and lots of memories!!!!
